24-pin DIP Real-Time Clock (RTC) plus RAM. Designed to be a Y2K-compliant replacement for the DS1287 BQ3287MT M48T86 OEC12C887 et al. The DS12C887 is identical in form fit and function to the DS1287 and has an additional 64 bytes of general-purpose RAM.
NOTE: The DS12C887 CANNOT replace the DS1287 in 80286-based computers. This device is compatible with AMI and Phoenix BIOS systems. It may not be compatible with AWARD 4.50G and 4.51PG BIOS unless the firmware has been upgraded. If the system requiring replacement is using a DS12887, BQ3287MT or Odin OEC12C887 and is not exhibiting issues with year 2000 and beyond dates, use the DS12887 instead of the DS12C887.
