NOTE - All of the APC RBC replacement SKUs shown in this section are sold as "batteries only." No wire harnesses, serial jumper cables, molded connector plugs or tray assemblies are provided.
You can save a lot of money by replacing the batteries in your UPS rather than purchasing a complete pack with a wiring harness, molded plug or tray. Our customers save hundreds of dollars on battery replacements in their UPS systems and help preserve the environment by reusing wiring, molded plugs and tray assemblies. There are very few instances where a wiring harness in a UPS has to be replaced. Typically, a wiring harness, molded plug or tray assembly needs to be replaced only if one or more of the batteries leaked and there is evidence of corrosion on the connection terminals.
Use appropriate safety precautions (including unplugging the UPS from the AC outlet*) when removing batteries from any UPS system. UPS systems contain high voltage and you can be seriously injured or worse if you don't use caution. We recommend wearing gloves and protective glasses when handling sealed lead-acid batteries. It is also a good idea to make a drawing of any wiring used in systems that employ multiple batteries. One installation trick is to use a digital or a cell phone camera to document the wiring layout before disconnecting batteries and replacing them. Make sure that you can see the individual connections in the photo before you begin work.
blockquote * May not be required for newer systems that employ hot-swappable battery packs.
